checkSURE Appoints Professor Tom Cannon Non-Executive Chairman

checkSURE has today appointed Professor Tom Cannon as non-Executive Chairman.

Professor Cannon recently chaired the New Vision for Business study initiated by the UK Prime Minister. He has strong links with policy makers in government and industry in the EC, UK and Australia, New Zealand, USA, Singapore, Malaysia, CIS, India and Pakistan. He has worked with such blue chip firms as Microsoft, General Electric, Virgin, IBM, Mirror Group Newspapers, Shell, ICI, IKEA, Ambrosetti Group, Energis2, Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation, Ernst & Young and Burston-Marseller in Britain, Europe and the USA.

He is also CEO of Respect, a research and development company focussing on the governance, social and environmental responsibilities of business. Other positions include: Chair of MDE Services, a global talent and knowledge industries development consultancy and visiting Chairs at Kingston, Bradford, Northumbria and Middlesex Universities.

Earlier in his career, Tom was Director of Manchester Business School. He was founding Professor of Business Management at Stirling University. Tom's earlier appointments have included Durham, Middlesex and Warwick Universities and marketing management posts in consumer and industrial goods companies. He was the Mercer's School Memorial Professor of Commerce at Gresham College.

Professor Cannon makes regular contributions to all areas of the media. This includes his books, The Ultimate Book of Business Breakthroughs recently published by Capstone, Welcome to the Revolution for Pitman Publishing, the best selling Guinness Book of Business Records, How To Get Ahead in Business for Virgin Publishing, fourteen other books, notably the authoritative Women as Entrepreneurs for the Academic Press and Corporate Responsibility: Issues in Business Ethics, Governance and the Environment for Pitman, besides almost a hundred academic and professional papers largely in the fields of marketing, enterprise development and innovation. Tom has a regular column in The Guardian, broadcasts on TV and radio as well as writing for fifteen national and international newspapers and magazines.
