BHP Billiton's Customer Sector Groups

BHP Billiton has seven customer sector groups, each one based on a different commodity market. These include:

• BHP Billiton Petroleum - have a portfolio of high quality and high margin assets with strong potential growth providing an excellent return on capital. They are also a significant oil and gas explorer and producer, with major producing assets all over the world.
• BHP Billiton Aluminium - is one of the world's major producers in alumina and aluminium. They are also active in every stage of the primary aluminium production process which includes bauxite mining; alumina refining; and aluminium smelting.
• BHP Billiton Base Metals - supply high quality base metal concentrates to the European , Asian and South American custom smelters. They also supply copper cathodes to copper wire manufacturers and brass mills.
• BHP Billiton Carbon Steel Materials - are the number one leader in the seabourne supply of metallurgical coal and manganese, they are also the third largest supplier of iron ore.
• BHP Billiton Diamonds and Specialty Products - own the Ekati Diamond mine which is one of the largest gem quality diamond producers in the world. They also produce titanium slag, rutile and zircon.
• BHP Billiton Energy Coal - focuses on providing highly competitive energy solutions for their clients (who are involved in the electric power generation). As a result, they are one of the world's largest producers and marketers of export thermal coal.
• BHP Billiton Stainless Steel Materials - the fourth largest nickel producer in the Western world, and the second largest ferrochrome producer.

Their main marketing hubs are located within Singapore and The Hague.
