BAA is owner of seven UK airports, including the world's busiest international airport, Heathrow. BAA also have management contracts or stakes in ten airports outside the UK, plus retail management contracts at two airports in the USA. BAA are at the heart of the world's transport network and our airports are the gateways to and from the cities and countries they serve.

Every year, they take responsibility for nearly 200 million passengers travelling through their airports, focusing on their customers' needs and safety. They are continuing to develop their site in response to customer needs.

BAA owns and operates seven airports in the United Kingdom, they have management contracts or stakes in the following airports outside of the UK - Indianapolis in the USA, Naples in Italy, Seeb and Salalah in Oman and six airports in Australia (Melbourne, Perth, Alice Springs,Tennant Creek, Darwin and Launceston). In addition BAA have retail management contracts at two airports in the US - Pittsburgh and Boston Logan.

All BAA airports serve around 200 million passengers worldwide, including over 120 million in the UK. One in five of the world's international air passengers travel through BAA UK airports.Safety and security at BAA airports is their number one priority. BAA now screen 100% of international hold baggage. They focus on customer's needs. Customers' views are measured monthly in customer surveys at airports.

BAA's three London airports - Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted - work as one integrated airport system making London the world's number one air travel destination.

The aviation industry contributes £10.2 billion to the UK's annual GDP. BAA manages all commercial facilities at our airports including shops, catering outlets, foreign currency exchange, car hire and car parks.

BAA is the largest single airport operator in the world, a major commercial landlord, retailer and developer.

BAA's executive committee develops and recommends business objectives and strategies to the board. In addition, it reviews the company's performance and ensures the delivery of agreed business objectives and plans.

BAA's seven UK airports experienced their second busiest month on record this July, with a total of 13.2 million passengers, up 2.2% on the same month last year.

Unofficial strike action by BAA's check-in staff at Heathrow is estimated to have caused a net loss of 100,000 passengers at Heathrow. In the absence of strike action, it is estimated that BAA would have recorded an increase of 3% and seen its busiest month ever.

Among major markets, domestic traffic was affected most by the BAA strike but still recorded an increase of 1.9%. European scheduled traffic was up by 6.9% while some of the early season cut backs in European charter capacity were restored in July.
