• Coal - Anglo Coal is one of the largest private sector coal producers and exporters in the world. An international coal producer, Anglo Coal are wholly owned by Anglo American plc and have mining operations in South Africa, Colombia, Venezuela and Australia.

• Gold - Anglo American has 51.4% gold interests in its independently managed subsidiary AngloGold, which has the most extensive reserves and resources and is one of the world's leading gold producers. Anglo American also has a 20.9% stake in Gold Fields Ltd.

• Platinum - 69.6% of its platinum interest held in Anglo Platinum, which is a world leader in platinum group metals and has the highest market capitalisation of any platinum mining company.

• Diamonds - Anglo American's diamond interests are represented by 45% shareholding in De Beers Investments - the world leader in diamond exploration, mining, recovering, sorting, valuation and marketing.

• Base Metals - Anglo American wholly owns Anglo Base Metals which comprises of copper, zinc, nickel and mineral sands operations and projects in South America and Africa, Ireland and Canada.

• Industrial Minerals - Anglo Industrial Minerals, which is wholly owned by Anglo American, comprises of two subsidiaries Tarmac and Copebras. • Ferrous Metals - under Anglo Ferrous Metals, which produces carbon, stainless steel, vanadium, chrome, manganese and mines iron ore, Anglo American has mining and manufacturing operations in Africa, Australia, Europe and South America.

• Paper and Packaging - Anglo Paper and Packaging, operating under Mondi, is a leading player in the corrugated packaging sector in both Europe and South Africa.Founded in 1917 by Sir Earnest Oppenheimer to exploit the gold mining potential of the East Rand, Anglo American now has significant and global interests within many related industries.
