Company Directors
When a company is incorporated, it is generally up to the decision of the members to appoint the people that they feel would be able to run the company on their behalf. However there are some restrictions that prevent some people becoming company directors.
Company Directors – Restrictions
Companies House state that the following people cannot become company directors, these are:
- They must not have been disqualified by any court from acting as company directors (unless they have been granted permission by a court to act as company directors for a particular company).
- People who are undischarged bankrupt cannot become company directors (unless they are granted permission by the court)
- Anybody under the age of 16 cannot be company directors in Scotland
- People over the age of 70 cannot be company directors for a PLC or their subsidiaries (unless they have been specifically approved by a general meeting of the company).
